Some pick a drink to drown their sorrow and some a pen to immortalise their grief. Whichever it is that you prefer, here is the thing about sadness. That it demands attention. For it is a child. Wanting your attention is the only thing that comes naturally to it. Don’t leave your hurt alone crying in a corner. Tend to him. Tell him that you won’t lock him in a dark room and forget about him. Hold him and let him know that you’re not embarrassed of him. Give your agony the respect it deserves. In return it will respect your wish to not be with him. Because children often mirror their idols.
